BREC unveils plans for new ballfields, park improvements in Baker

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — BREC and local leaders announced plans on Friday for new recreation projects. These projects will enhance parks and youth sports facilities and boost economic development in Baker.

The centerpiece of the proposal is a new ballfield complex at Baker Park on Jefferson Street. Officials say the project could cost between $4 million and $5 million and would help address a shortage of quality baseball and softball facilities in East Baton Rouge Parish.
