Keeping pets at ease during 4th of July fireworks

DES MOINES, Iowa– People are already stocking up on fireworks ahead of July Fourth, but pet owners should also be prepping for the holiday.

The Fourth of July is always a fun time, but for our four-legged friends, it can be a bit scary with the loud booms and bright flashes from fireworks.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa released the following tips to keep pets at ease during the holiday weekend. Put the pet in a comfortable, calm space indoors with familiar sounds like a TV or radio. For some physical remedies, pet owners can purchase calming collars or even calming diffusers that can be purchased online or at the ARL.
