La La Land officially opens new drive-thru cafe in Cypress

A popular Dallas coffee shop chain has officially landed in another part of the Houston area.

After much anticipation, La La Land’s new cafe in Cypress is now open at 9935 Barker Cypress Rd. in The Boardwalk at Towne Lake. The cafe, which occupies the former Thousand Hills Coffee & Bakery space, marks the chain’s first Houston-area location with a drive-thru and is already drawing big crowds.

For hours, long lines wrapped around the new cafe Friday, with customers waiting outside and cars backed up in the drive-thru. Some customers arrived before the shop opened at 7 a.m., a staff member told Chron.

Inside the new Cypress shop, customers will find La La Land’s signature aesthetic-bright white interiors accented by cheerful pops of yellow-along with patio seating. Like the chain’s other locations, the cafe serves coffee, matcha and tea drinks, as well as fan-favorite specialty beverages like the La La Latte and Banana Cloud Latte. Guests can also choose from a selection of sweet and savory toasts, sandwiches and wraps.

With the Cypress opening, La La Land now operates five Houston-area locations, with another planned for Katy’s Meadows Marketplace. The Dallas-based chain now has 32 locations nationwide, including cafes in California and Arizona, though the majority remain in North Texas, where La La Land first launched in 2019.

The Cypress cafe will remain in its soft-opening phase through June 26, offering 50% off drinks from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The grand opening is scheduled for June 27, when the discount will apply to both drinks and toast…
