Caseyville Board Opens Demolition Bids, Approves Sewer Equipment Purchase

The Caseyville Village Board met June 17 at Village Hall and via Zoom. Mayor Kent Luebbers called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. All trustees were present, along with Village Attorney Bryce Litchfield, Police Chief Woody Hall, Superintendent Brian Rader, Village Clerk Cindy Miller and other department officials.

Tensions surfaced during public comment at the meeting as residents Kurt Take and Billy Hayes pressed officials over unlabeled village vehicles and delays involving a local housing permit.

Kurt Take again raised concerns regarding unlabeled village vehicles, asking officials why trucks discussed at previous meetings had not yet been marked. Take questioned delays in completing the work and alleged that village vehicles were being used for personal purposes. Village officials disputed those claims. During the discussion, Village Attorney Bryce Litchfield stated that the Village does not currently have a policy requiring vehicles to be labeled, but officials would like to have them labeled in the future…
