CLAY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The bolt popped off, and the crowd applauded as the sign loosened and the man in the bright vest took it down.
“A street named ‘Plantation’ has no place in Clay,” said Joe Bick, the town’s deputy supervisor.
Onondaga County lawmakers Kevin Meaker and Nodesia Hernandez reached out to Bick and the town board about the name of “Plantation Boulevard,” which bothered them.
“Street names are more than just labels,” Hernandez said. “They shape how people experience and feel about where they live.”…
