Commercial tonnage on the Arkansas River was up more than 50% in May, with the gain driven mostly by gains in sand/gravel/rock shipments, and a more than 55% gain in traffic between ports on the river. Tonnage is up almost 11% through May compared with the same period in 2025.
The U.S. Corps of Engineers reported 4.872 million tons shipped on the river between January and May, up 10.6% compared with 4.406 million in the same period of 2025. Tonnage in May totaled 814,248 tons, up 50.7% compared with May 2025.
