Colorado Springs Ordinance Lets Day Cares Open in Tiny Home Communities

Colorado Springs is opening up far more of the city to day cares, reversing a zoning squeeze that took hold when the city switched to a new development code three years ago.

The ordinance passed June 9 and takes effect June 22. It directly undoes an unintended consequence of the city’s 2023 switch to a Unified Development Code—that conversion shrank the number of zone districts where childcare was allowed to operate.
