Henderson County man sues sheriff’s office, accuses deputies of excessive force

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – A Henderson County man has filed a lawsuit against the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, claiming deputies used “unreasonable and excessive force” against him during a mental health crisis.

On April 30, 2024, first responders responded to a fire at the house of Hubert Lee Allen, who was home at the time and staying in a camper in front of his house.

The court filing states while first responders attempted to contain the fire, Allen moved from his camper and away from his home to his vehicle. Allen’s dog was also in the vehicle…
