Key hearing could make or break case against Matthew Nilo, lawyer accused of Boston rapes

A hearing Monday will determine the future of the case against a New Jersey lawyer who was arrested in 2023 in connection with the rapes and assaults of eight women in Boston more than a decade earlier.

Judge Debra Squires-Lee is set to preside over an evidentiary hearing at which a defense lawyer for Matthew Nilo will get the chance to question investigators about the process that led to Nilo’s DNA being seized and searched ahead of his arrest.

Attorney Rosemary Scapicchio has moved to suppress the seizure and search of her client’s DNA — a request that, if granted, would essentially dismantle the entire case…
