For nearly a decade, Dr. Chip Scott, neurosurgeon with West Tennessee Healthcare, has brought both skill and compassion to patients across our region. His journey into neurosurgery was not a straight line. It was a calling shaped by faith, purpose, and a desire to serve others close to home. He sees patients in Jackson and in McKenzie now, but is planning to expand.
“I started out training as a trauma surgeon,” Dr. Scott recalls. “But God had other plans. A neurosurgeon took me under his wing, and I felt led to follow that path. It felt like a higher calling, something I was truly meant to do.”
That leap of faith led him from Alabama to Dallas, where he completed seven years of neurosurgical training, followed by work in academic medicine. Eventually, Dr. Scott was drawn to West Tennessee, settling in Jackson and joining the well-established neurosurgery program built by Dr. Neblett, who faithfully served the community for decades.
