The News19 Weather Authority Team has issued an Impact Day for Monday throughout the Tennessee Valley. Strong to severe thunderstorms during the second half of the day tomorrow.
Current weather guidance models indicate the time frame for the storms in northern Alabama is between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has forecasted a SLIGHT Risk for strong to severe storms for the eastern half of northern Alabama and the western half under a Marginal Risk. The threat for the severe weather extends from the Tennessee Valley, through the mid-Atlantic and to the Northeast.
The Weather Prediction Center in Silver Springs, MD as also issued a SLIGHT Risk for the potential of excess rainfall. This threat includes all of northern Alabama, which totals could range from 1.00″ – 1.50″ of rainfall as the storms move through any given location.
Monday afternoon’s thunderstorms in any of the WHNT News19 viewing area could have impacts during the weather event that can produce wind gusts over 55 mph, minimal if any hail threat, heavy rainfall that could lead to some flooding.
