Fire near homeless encampment spreads to tow yard lot, damages cars

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A vegetation fire that sparked near a homeless encampment along the SR-52 near Convoy Street Sunday evening spread to a nearby tow yard lot, damaging cars.

San Diego Fire-Rescue said it received an initial report about a fire along the highway. Call logs showed that the call came in around 6:08 p.m.

The department said that when fire crews arrived at the scene, it appeared that the fire had actually started near a homeless encampment in a nearby canyon…
