NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Jefferson Parish leaders and the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District are in preliminary talks with a soccer team to make the Shrine on Airline their new home when a nearly $30 million renovation is complete next year, according to a source close to the project.
The $28.5 million makeover of the Metairie landmark is set for completion by June 2027. When the Shrine reopens next June, Jefferson Parish officials said it will serve as a high school football field and event space.
