CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Almost 10 years after the 2017 Mitchell Street fatal shooting in New Providence, one of the three defendants is no longer facing murder charges after reaching a settlement in a separate case.
On Nov. 20, 2017, Clarksville Police responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Mitchell Street and found 28-year-old Rayquan Hudson on the front porch with gunshot wounds to his upper body, according to previous reports. He was transported by ambulance to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
Three men – Shamar Lebron Blount, Darius Devon Woods and Khavell Solomonmilik Williams – were indicted in 2022 on charges of first-degree murder in perpetration of a crime and robbery. Their joint trial was set for February this year before being rescheduled, according to court records.
Blount’s charges dismissed in settlement
On June 5, the first-degree murder and robbery charges against Blount were dismissed as part of a settlement agreement, court records show. As part of that settlement, Blount entered guilty pleas in a separate case to two counts of possession of a weapon as a felon, and he will serve 10 years at the Tennessee Department of Corrections at 30%, as a Range I offender, with 946 days of jail credit.
