TAMPA, Fla. — Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier on Wednesday announced an expanded crackdown on 7-hydroxymitragynine, or 7-OH, a kratom-derived compound that state officials described as a dangerous, opioid-like substance being sold in gas stations, convenience stores and vape shops.
Uthmeier said the state will broaden an emergency rule issued last year to cover additional related chemicals and stricter product standards. He said the goal is to keep highly concentrated derivatives off store shelves and out of the hands of children.
