DUNEDIN, Fla. (WFLA) — Dunedin Fire Rescue said a swimmer was rescued on Monday afternoon after trying to swim between barrier islands.
It happened shortly after 1 p.m. on June 22, fire rescue said.

Video from the scene showed a large law enforcement response, including Dunedin Fire Rescue, the Tarpon Springs Police Department, and marine units from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Dunedin Fire Rescue said the swimmer had to be rescued while attempting to swim between Caladesi Island and Honeymoon Island, two of many barrier islands that line the Gulf side of Pinellas County.
