Hometown Health: Most kidney failure patients never start transplant waitlist process, study finds

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Most people who need a kidney transplant never get on the waitlist, according to an NYU Langone Health study.

The study found many kidney failure patients never actually start the process to get on the waitlist. Patients who were unmarried, severely obese, lived in rural areas or spoke Spanish were the most likely to never complete the process.
