According to Atlanta Black Star, the federal authorities recently alleged that Mark Milk, a Sioux Falls man, was connected to his teenage niece, McKenna Wendel’s death. Reports revealed that the 51-year-old spent nearly three decades in prison. He was serving a life sentence for a 1993 murder after he stabbed a man in Winner, South Dakota. In 2023, Noem commuted his sentence, allowing him to return to society much earlier than expected. At the time, Noem received massive support from people who argued that Milk deserved a second chance.

Roughly three years later, Milk was on the feds’ radar again as prosecutors alleged he was involved in the death of the teen girl. Reportedly, Wendel was last seen alive in Sioux Falls on March 14, the day after she was reported missing. On March 19, she was found dead about an hour away from the city.
