A former East Alton Wood River High School athlete is now a Route 66 legend. Kyle Hanner downed the Big Texan Steak Ranch’s 72-ounce steak, three shrimp, a baked potato and a side salad in less than an hour, Monday evening in Granite City. According to officials, Hanner was the first contestant along Route 66 since Kingman Arizona to complete the “Great Steak Challenge.”
The event was held as part of the Route 66 Caravan’s first stop in Illinois.
