WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Cowley County Humane Society had to call on the community for help this weekend after its property flooded.
Director Amy Gates said her kennel tech called her on Sunday morning and told her the water was so high that she could not get into the building.
Gates said she put a call out to staff to evacuate the animals because the dogs were in water. She said many community members, dog groomers and shelters in Oklahoma reached out to help give the animals a temporary home.
