CABARRUS COUNTY (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Cabarrus County deputies are warning business owners to take preventative measures after a spree of overnight commercial break-ins.
The sheriff’s office says they are investigating multiple break-ins that recently occurred in the Harrisburg, Concord, and Kannapolis areas. In these incidents, the suspects have forced their way in by breaking glass doors and windows before targeting cash registers and easily accessible cash inside the businesses.
Deputies are encouraging business owners and managers to take these steps to help reduce the risk of being targeted.
- Remove cash from registers at closing and secure it in a safe
- Leave cash drawers open and empty when possible
- Ensure surveillance cameras are functioning properly
- Verify alarm systems are activated after business hours
- Maintain adequate exterior lighting around your business
- Report suspicious activity immediately
