BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Dunkirk man was sentenced to five years in prison on Monday after two children were shot in 2022, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Juan Cruz Corraliza, 43, was sentenced after being convicted of first-degree attempted assault. He was also sentenced to 2 1/3 years to seven years for a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon stemming from a separate 2024 incident in Fredonia; the two sentences will be served concurrently, officials said. He was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
Cruz Corraliza’s initial trial for the 2022 incident resulted in a mistrial after a unanimous verdict was not reached.
