Houston man indicted in Louisiana after healthcare fraud scheme

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Houston man was formally charged after being accused of conspiring to fraudulently obtain prescription drugs in Louisiana.

According to the United States Department of Justice, a national healthcare fraud takedown operation led to the arrest and indictment of Kendrick Adams, 39. He faces one count each of conspiracy to acquire and obtain possession of controlled substances by fraud and acquiring and obtaining possession of controlled substances by fraud.

Between September 2024 and December 2024, Adams allegedly used a scheme to obtain promethazine with codeine by using a fake prescription. The prescription was submitted using a doctor’s stolen identity and in the name of a fake patient…
