Central pastor charged after allegedly beating 20-year-old man who told him “F— you”

CENTRAL — A Central pastor was arrested on June 23 after allegedly running across the highway to physically beat a young man. The incident was all caught on camera, according to family. He’s charged with one count of second-degree battery.

Pastor Mark Anthony “Tony” Spell, who’s been the pastor at Life Tabernacle Church in Central for around 17 years, is accused of beating a 20-year-old man Tuesday morning around 10. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies arrested Spell after the incident.

According to EBRSO, the victim told deputies he was in front of his home when he saw Spell across the street at the church. The young man said he yelled out “F— you” to Spell and “that was it,” however, Spell then crossed the road and onto the property allegedly to beat him…
