Man who hired undercover agent to kill family to undergo mental assessment

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Homewood business owner who pleaded guilty to seven counts of murder-for-hire will undergo a court-ordered mental health assessment.

Mohammad Mohammad agreed to pay an undercover FBI agent $20,000 to kill his wife and $30,000 to kill his six adult children at a meeting at the Homewood Wal-Mart in September 2024, according to court records.

Tuesday, Mohammad returned to court after his defense filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea “at the insistence of their client.”

The motion, filed on Mohammad’s behalf, explained the defendant felt he was misled and didn’t realize he was pleading guilty to seven counts – something the defense team strongly denies…
