Drivers caught speeding on a stretch of Route 13 in Northeast Philadelphia will begin receiving fines Friday as the warning period for the automated speed cameras comes to an end.
The new cameras, along Route 13 from Morrell Avenue to Levick Street, went live on April 13, initially warning anyone who violated the 25 mph speed limit at those cameras.
“Speed enforcement cameras reduce accidents and save lives. They have dramatically reduced speeding along Roosevelt Boulevard by 95%,” said Gabe Roberts, Acting Executive Director of the Philadelphia Parking Authority. “Our aim is to improve public safety and save lives.”…
