Officials: Greenville resident among 12 people indicted in Georgia drone smuggling conspiracy

MACON, Ga. (FOX Carolina) – A Greenville resident is among 12 people indicted in an alleged drone smuggling conspiracy at 10 prisons.

The United States Attorney’s Office Middle District of Georgia, the 17-count indictment was returned by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Georgia on June 10, and unsealed on Wednesday.

The indictment states that from September 2023 through May 2026, the defendants allegedly engaged in a conspiracy to use six drones to drop illegal contraband at least 38 times into 10 federal prisons across Georgia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi…
