After we get through more storms and heavy rain to end off the week, next week is looking HOT! We’re likely going to get our first real taste of actually summer-like temperatures in our area with air temperatures rising into the mid-90s and feels-like temperatures climbing to 100-110 degrees!
If you’ve lived here long enough, you know it can get hotter than that though. So…what’s the hottest Louisville has ever been? What about Kentucky? Indiana?

It has been a very long time since the last time we saw the hottest temperature ever recorded in Louisville. The hottest Louisville has ever seen was 107°F! It wasn’t just one time that this happened though, this has actually happened three separate times! Now, none of them are recent, but it has in fact happened three times. The most recent was back in 1936 on July 14th! The previous two instances were July 28th, 1930, and July 24th, 1901.
If you notice the two most recent times this occurred in 1930 & 1936, this was also during the Dust Bowl era. That heat wave in 1936 unfortunately took the lives of 16 people in Louisville…
