Trial date confirmed for alleged Warehouse District gunman

The case against a lawyer accused of trying to shoot his estranged or former wife in a crowded Warehouse District restaurant last year has been confirmed for trial next month.

Matthew Exton, 43, of Traverse City, Mich., and formerly of the Toledo area, is charged with first-degree attempted murder and three counts of felonious assault for the April 11, 2025, incident in the Sabira restaurant at 139 S. Huron St. All four counts have gun specifications attached.
