Longtime French teacher bids Bowsher High, Toledo Public Schools adieu

Ron Kamal said he was doubtful when his 80-year-old mom, Nada Kwiatkowski, told him she was retiring from teaching French at Bowsher High School.

“She has been saying she was going to retire for the last few years,” said Mr. Kamal, who lives in Chicago. “She’s been teaching continuously for years. The school system recently made the decision to stop teaching French for the upcoming school year. … I guess it was the final nail in the coffin.”

Toledo Public Schools Superintendent Romules Durant said French was cut at Bowsher because of declining enrollment and student interest in the program, but he praised Ms. Kwiatkowski’s decades of dedication to the district…
