NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A return of Planned Parenthood to Louisiana was announced on Wednesday, June 24.
In September 2025, the organization closed the remaining Louisiana facilities after 40 years of providing expert sexual and reproductive health care, education and advocacy throughout the state.

The organization plans to expand statewide telehealth services and in-person care in New Orleans. Services making a return to the clinics include:
- STI testing
- Gender affirming care
- Pregnancy testing
- Perimenopause and menopause care,
- Vasectomies,
- Cancer screenings,
- Other preventive health services.
Other states reopening facilities are Arkansas, Kansas, western Missouri, and Oklahoma as they are a part of Planned Parenthood Great Plains network.
“Access to reproductive health care has become increasingly uneven across the United States. Instead of care, communities with the most unmet needs are met with new restrictions and disruptions. The loss of Planned Parenthood health centers providing services in Louisiana reflected that reality. The return of care underscores Planned Parenthood’s commitment to remaining in the South to meet people where they are and create more pathways to accessing high-quality health care for as many communities as possible,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “…
