Three people hurt in Chase County crash

Three Wichita residents were hurt in a crash in southeast Chase County early Wednesday.

Emporia Fire/EMS and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 113.9 southbound, 13 miles southwest of Emporia and 2 miles northeast of the Flint Hills cattle pens exit, shortly before 4:30 am. Troopers say 23-year-old Micheal Hinkle-Moreno was driving an SUV when he fell asleep at the wheel. The SUV went off the road into a ditch. Hinkle-Moreno overcorrected, with the SUV rolling once as a result.

Hinkle-Moreno suffered possible injuries, while two passengers, 37-year-old Brandi Moreno and 34-year-old Brandon Moreno, had suspected minor injuries. All went to Newman Regional Health for treatment…
