Trader Joe’s is expanding its Oregon footprint with two new locations, one in Keizer and another in Bend, marking this the most significant growth in years by the grocery chain in the state. Both stores are in the early stages of development, with no official opening dates yet announced, but permits and plans are already in motion at both sites.
In Bend, the new store will take over the former JOANN Fabrics location at 61284 S Highway 97, inside the Pioneer Crossing shopping center. Co-owner Darren Dickerhoof confirmed that a shell permit had been submitted to the city. The new spot will be Bend’s second Trader Joe’s, adding to the existing location that has long drawn lines out the door on weekends.
In Keizer, plans have been filed for a 31,829-square-foot building on a vacant lot in Keizer Station. The store would be the first Trader Joe’s in Keizer, a city of roughly 40,000 residents just north of Salem that has been trying to land one for years.
