Ex–WNC chief deputy accused of providing drugs, weapons to inmates

MADISON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – A former Madison County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges accusing him of criminal activity involving inmates and detention center staff.

According to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Bronis Coy Phillips was arrested on Sunday, June 14 in Maricopa County, Arizona. He was held without bond and transported back to North Carolina.
