Spain Park alum Chase Kyes reflects on U.S. Open experience

SOUTHAMPTON, NY – As Chase Kyes sat in the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club clubhouse, the oldest in the country, and got ready for his round, he sat just steps away from Scottie Scheffler and Ricky Fowler.

With the Spain Park graduate and Tennessee golfer in the same room as the best in the world, it became more real where he was–the 2026 U.S. Open. Rather than just being star-struck though, he realized the two of them were more alike than he realized.

“(You’re) putting your shoes on in the locker room, you turn around, there’s Ricky Fowler, you turn around, there’s Scottie Scheffler, like guys that you watch do the things that you want to do when you’re older, so it was just cool to see those guys go throughout their daily lives,” Kyes said. “They’re just normal people. They’re just really good at golf. So, it was just cool to see.”…
