Trussville drivers face traffic issues after multiple rail crossings close suddenly

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – Multiple residents in Trussville are dealing with traffic issues Wednesday after multiple rail crossings were shutdown without much notice, city officials said.

Trussville Fire Chief Tim Shotts described the traffic as a nightmare and that thousands of people who live in the area are being impacted.

The chief said that while Norfolk Southern typically gives them notice ahead of railroad track maintenance, but work in the area of Bethune Parkway, Meadowlark Drive, and Camp Coleman, happened because a crew had last minute availability.

Officials said the only way in and out of the area is through Commerce Lane, including first responders…
