- Golf star happy to have Tiger Woods back around PGA Tour after arrest: ‘Good thing for us’ (foxnews.com)
Tiger Woods made his first public appearance since his March arrest on Tuesday, stepping onto the stage at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut to introduce PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp at a press conference.
Woods was arrested on March 27 near his Jupiter Island, Florida, home following a two-car rollover accident. He faced DUI charges involving property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Authorities reported that Woods appeared lethargic at the scene and found hydrocodone pills in his possession. Despite this, his breathalyzer tests showed no alcohol presence.
Pleading not guilty to the DUI charge, Woods was granted permission on April 1 to travel abroad for inpatient rehabilitation. He reportedly entered a treatment facility in Zurich, Switzerland.
Now back in the United States, Woods wasted no time making his presence felt during an important day for the PGA Tour. For fellow golfer Xander Schauffele, seeing Woods was a reassuring sign of normalcy.
“I saw Tiger. It was good.
I thought he looked good, said hi to him,” Schauffele told Fox News Digital. “He was happy to be in the meeting.
Definitely wanted to speak to the membership. Definitely good.
Anytime Tiger’s on property at a golf course, even if he’s not suited up to play, it’s a good thing for us.”
At the event, Woods introduced Rolapp, who discussed a new series of recommendations from the Future Competition Committee. These proposals aim to bring significant structural changes to the PGA Tour starting in 2028.
This recent arrest marks Woods’ second in less than ten years, with both incidents occurring near his Jupiter home. His first arrest involved being found asleep behind the wheel in the early morning hours.
Woods’ return to the public eye signals a step forward as he continues to navigate personal and professional challenges.
