‘I would do it all over again’: Veteran combat engineer would still be serving if he could

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Service runs in the family for Mississippi native Edward Sayles Sr.

“My dad served, his brother served, his brother served and my grandpa served. So, it was just something I wanted to do and try out,” Sayles said.

He enlisted in 1989 right out of high school and trained to be a combat engineer.
