The Members of the Montgomery Federation of Garden Clubs held a Garden Party on a lovely Monday, June 8, 2026 in the Betty Fitzgerald Biblical Garden in Montgomery Botanical Gardens at Oak Park. This garden was created years ago by the city of Montgomery to honor Mrs. Betty Fitzgerald for her diligent efforts to beautify Montgomery. It became part of the botanical gardens when these gardens began in 2013.
The Garden Party was held to celebrate the completion of the Federation’s work on the Biblical Garden and to award their annual scholarships to worthy students. June Cyrus, Rose Winkler, Sarah Church, and Mary Helen Mahan of the Federation arranged a lovely setting for the ceremony and for refreshments afterwards. Ashley Thorne, board member of Montgomery Botanical Gardens, represented the board at the event. The worthy scholarship recipient was Madisen Brundidge, graduate of Booker T Washington Magnet High School, attending University of Alabama Birmingham for Nursing.
Federation members worked to rehabilitate the Biblical Garden from years of neglect and made it a beautiful venue again. They added an herb bed, replaced plants, added a shrub boarder and some roses. They also added lovely benches to the setting providing a place for rest, mediation, prayer or admiring the surroundings…
