A Qatar Airways cargo jet sparked outrage among aviation experts on Wednesday after a video captured the aircraft performing an unusually low flyby over a runway in Central Texas.
The plane in question, a Boeing 777 widebody jet, was captured on video attempting a “low pass” maneuver during a detour from its route to Fort Worth on an airplane runway near Horseshoe Bay Resort (located 60 miles northwest of Austin). Video shows the massive jet streaking just feet above the runway without its landing gear deployed before banking sharply left. The plane then leveled and rose back in the air before continuing its journey to Fort Worth, though aviation experts quickly condemned the pilot’s unnecessary decision.
