ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Heavy rain fell in the Metro on Thursday, and Albuquerque Fire Rescue said one person got swept up in an arroyo. Just before 5:30 p.m., AFR received reports of someone in the water near Carlisle and the Embudo/North Diversion Channel.
New Mexico State Police found that person still in the water west of Carlisle, and two officers pulled them to safety. “State PD is not equipped for flood channel rescue like we are, and they improvised and actually tied off a section of fire hose and went down into the arroyo to effect a rescue, so my hats off to them,” said AFR Lt. Jason Fejer.
AFR also received reports of a woman and a dog in the water. They have not confirmed that information, but they will continue to monitor the arroyos…
