Franklin County prosecutors to lead Jason Meade case as defense seeks to delay sentencing

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday that the case for former sheriff’s deputy Jason Meade will be brought back in-house after defense attorneys filed a motion to delay his sentencing.

According to Prosecutor Shayla Favor, First Assistant Bob Krapenc will take over the prosecution, which had been led by special prosecutors Gary Shroyer and Tim Merkle since 2021.

“This move allows us to maintain full oversight of the case and make decisions regarding next steps,” Favor said in a release. “Each of these cases presents its own unique challenges and I remain committed to conducting a thorough evaluation of the case to determine the best path forward.”…
