A familiar face in downtown Erie is now impossible to miss. For years, Keenan Madison’s violin has been the soundtrack of downtown Erie. That familiar sound has been transformed into a 72-foot symbol of determination—a tribute not only to one musician’s strength, but to a community that turned adversity into hope.
A towering new mural honoring violinist Keenan Madison was unveiled Thursday in downtown Erie. Twenty-four-year-old Keenan has spent his entire life overcoming obstacles. Diagnosed with autism, he didn’t begin speaking until he was eight years old. But time and again, he has defied the odds through his determination and love of music.
Now, he is being recognized for the resilience that has defined his journey. His mother, Jackyln Madison, says the 72-foot mural represents much more than artwork. She says it reflects Keenan’s perseverance, his commitment to playing his violin every day, and the positive impact he has had on the community.
Last year, Keenan was attacked while playing at a downtown bus stop, but he refused to let that moment define him. Instead, he returned to the very same corner, continuing to play his violin for the community that has long supported him…
