Curtis 50 Cent Jackson has spent the past couple of years buying up properties in downtown Shreveport. So far, he has spent more than $4 million dollars buying buildings and empty lots in the downtown area. Several of these pieces of land will be used for the construction of the permanent G-Dome near the intersection of Spring and Travis and Commerce.
Jackson Has Been Looking at Several Properties
We don’t think Jackson is done buying properties. His growth advisor, Orville Hall has told KEEL News he expects Jackson to buy a residence for himself somewhere in the city. There has also been speculation about G-Unit purchasing another big property in downtown for office space and possible housing units. But no deal has been confirmed.
KEEL News has gotten a list of the properties G-Unit Film and Television Louisiana LLC has purchased and this list includes several key parcels in the heart of the city.
How Much Has Curtis Jackson Spent?
You can run the numbers, but it the latest data from the Caddo Parish Assessor’s Office shows G-Unit has spent $4.3 million on properties in downtown Shreveport. This does not include any of the money G-Unit has spent to make improvements at Stageworks or the Millennium Studios complex.
What Amenities Does Jackson Want in Shreveport?
During several visits to town, Jackson has expressed an interest in bringing more housing and restaurants to downtown Shreveport. He also wants to add more quality-of-life events to the heart of the city. After his Humor and Harmony Festival, Jackson posted an online message saying “we need more pools and more hotels, I’ve got work to do.”
And he has been getting to work. Construction has started on the permanent G-Dome in Shreveport which will be a 14-story modern digital structure similar to the Spere in Las Vegas.
