Caddo Parish Probation officer honored for helping people rebuild lives

CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office probation officer is being recognized for nearly 15 years of helping people rebuild their lives. Deputy Bruce Parse’e is KTAL’s latest Salute the Badge honoree. Parse’e manages a caseload of more than 200 people and said the job goes beyond law enforcement.

“It’s also kind of like social work because you’re trying to help them get through this, to be a productive citizen,” Parse’e said. “Sometimes people have issues. You know, they may have problems with kids, a place to stay, and things of that nature. We also try to help them find employment and things of that nature, whatever it is that we can do to help them through the program.”

A personal turning point led Parse’e to the field. He said the role combines his legal background with his desire to serve.

“When I was in law school, for a while, I didn’t finish law school,” Parse’e said. “Probation kind of gave me an opportunity to kind of do both things, the law enforcement side, plus the legal side, as far as some of the things attorneys do.”…
