Weather Alert – Dangerous heat this weekend

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – After an active evening of heavy showers and storms, storms are pushing east early this morning and should wrap up before sunrise. There could be some slowdowns early this morning across the state due to patchy dense fog, but it will burn off by midday. Expect partly cloudy skies this afternoon with highs in the low 80s and light winds.

A few storms are possible in western Kansas late this evening and overnight. They will track east but will decay before reaching the I-135 corridor. However, a nearby boundary could bring some late night isolated storms south of Wichita.

Heading into the weekend, temperatures will return to the low to mid 90s, but with high humidity, the heat index will be at dangerous levels between 100 and 105 degrees. Winds will also ramp up from the south and be quite gusty between Sunday and Monday…
