MILLS RIVER, N.C. (WLOS) — Community leaders celebrated the delivery of more than 4,000 gallons of milk in western North Carolina on Friday, June 26. All of that dairy is heading to food pantries across the region after a community-wide donation drive aimed at helping families facing food insecurity during the summer months.
“Milk is a nutritious, filling food that kids love,” said Claire Neal, CEO of MANNA FoodBank. “When we have milk at our distributions, you can see families’ eyes light up; they are so excited. It’s something that everybody wants.”
