HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Construction has officially begun on a project to revitalize public housing in Huntsville’s District 4 around Governors and Seminole Drive.
The Mill Creek project aims to transform the area with mixed-income housing, healthcare facilities and retail shops. A $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is helping to fund the effort.
The project will be completed in phases, with a universal design building coming first. Residents of Johnson Tower and Butler Terrace, which have housed public residents for decades, will be relocated to new buildings during construction…
