1,000 pounds of illegal fireworks seized from L.A. County home

Approximately 1,000 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized from a Los Angeles County home on Thursday, just before the Fourth of July holiday, police announced.

Investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office were reportedly serving a search warrant at a residence in Lancaster when they discovered the fireworks, which were unrelated to their investigation.

With help from the Lancaster Police Department, deputies responded to safely seize the fireworks and remove them from the residence.

“This seizure is another reminder that illegal fireworks are being actively identified and taken off our streets,” the Lancaster Police Department said in a Facebook post on Friday. “These explosives pose a significant risk of injury, fire, and property damage.”…
