Felon pleads guilty in drug-related killing in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. — A convicted felon is headed back to prison after pleading guilty Thursday to first-degree manslaughter in connection with a homicide last year on Rochester’s west side.

Richard Gollwitzer, 36, of Ogden, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in a wooded area on Orchard Street on May 8, 2025, according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office. Investigators determined the killing was likely drug-related.

Wright was identified as the shooter through surveillance video and extensive investigative work, prosecutors said. At the time of the killing, he was out of custody on pending criminal possession of stolen property charges…
